Chacabuco Thermometer Rises to $1,085

17 May, 2006 (11:26) | News

Thank you Elan Kamesar, Devin Atallah, Alissa Waddell, and Chrissie Lam for your generous donations! You have helped the funds reach the new total of $1,085! This means we are only $283 away from the old total of $1,368 and $495 from the new total of $1,580 (see details below)! Food and lodging are now paid for while we shoot the documentary in Chacabuco and Antofagasta!

New Changes to the Chacabuco Project: HIGHER BUDGET GOAL

Two concentration camp survivors, Rolando Carrasco and Santiago Cavieres, are jumping on board to go with crew member Will Sherman and me to Chacabuco. These men are in their early 70’s and are going to take a plane to Antofogasta and bus in to Chacabuco on May 25, 2006.

We are trying to reach a new total in order to pay their way. Originally, Will and I had planned to fly to Chacabuco. However, in order to cut costs, we are taking a bus up (about 22 hours). The cost for two plane tickets (from Santiago to Antofogasta) and two bus tickets (from Antofagsta to Chacabuco) is about $412. By taking the bus, Will and I have cut costs by two hundred dollars. Still, in order to fly Rolando and Santiago up North, we need an additional $212.

Our new budget is $1,580: it now covers the transportation costs of Rolando and Santiago. Thanks, again, to all of your generous donations, we are still very close to this new goal — only $495 away from the total needed! Unfortunately, time is running out! We leave on this monday the 22nd. That’s 5 days away…and counting.

So Hurry and Make a Donation Now!

Thank you for your support!
